You've got eyes like the autumn that can see right through me I feel your presence in my soul As the light that's your gaze permeates the dark empty in me Leaving my cup half full You have hands that are delicate with no blood on them As pure as the fresh-fallen snow How I long to hold onto those hands with a promise That I'll never ever let go Oh no, I'll never ever let go, oh no You've got two separate peaces to you like a quickening pace in the river that leads to the fall There I leap off the edge to pursue this new love like a blanket to cover my all Though it's scary you swear that you'll always be there, like a sparrow you sing in my ear "Lover, lose all your doubt for you've found all you need in me, and you have nothing to fear" You've got everything going for you, but you picked me amongst all the suitors who wish for your hand Though they are much more qualified, you reassure me that their advances you'll withstand I was shaky at first 'til you opened your heart and confessed to me you were immersed I was reading your diary, shocked to discover you'd written the exact same verse

Stop the train conductor, we're careening off of the tracks I know I've been gone for a long while, but I'm coming back I'm on a train filled with so many passengers They're all different people, all have unique stories Where are they coming from? Where are they going? With all of their luggage, and nobody knowing What are they running from? What do they hope to find? To what temptation did they succumb, and what did they leave behind? The real world has awoken new decisions in me I'm on a train, the conductor's pain, I'm on my knees pleading

The way the water wades in the moonlight perpetuates my steadfast belief Even something so vital erodes, so the Earth must turn over a new leaf Kind of reminds me of all of my values, 100 years from now will they be? Will they live on well beyond my years or will my values die with me? And I want the world to know I've done my best to do right by you And I want the world to see just who you are and what you did to me And I want to tear apart these bonds that hold me, so you told me And I wish I wrote this page so I could say I saw this coming This happened so long ago, but still your memory tends to haunt me I've turned over a new page, but what we could have been sometimes taunts me My resolute foundations, complications seep in through the cracks You're vital for my life, but given the choice I would not take you back
4.
Knowing I'm not dead Is better left unsaid In these turbid waters The waters which I tread I'm swimming against the tide But I just can't decide If this life is circumstance Or our currents just collide I'm on this lifelong quest Discovering the rest Of answers I can't find Without leaving life behind And I can't see the way This journey's day by day The weather feels warm But the skyline just looks grey And that's the way things are We're all made of stars This can't all be by chance Or we might live on Mars But who controls our fate? The timing all seems late Against the stream we row Until we're gone, we'll never know
